The instructions below will guide you through downloading, installing, and configuring scanner settings so users can scan with Traverse. Scanner settings, like the ability to scan double-sided (blank page detection) or in color, are not controlled or included in Traverse itself and need to be set up in the scanner driver control panel.
These instructions must be completed for every machine that will be using Traverse to scan, and all sections must be completed in order to use the full range of functionality on your scanners. It is also important to note that only one scanner driver can be installed on the machine with Traverse.
Section 1: Downloading the Dynamsoft Service
In order for Traverse to communicate with the local scanner, a third-party software called Dynamsoft (version 17) must be installed. This software allows your web browser to interact with the scanner drivers. The first time you scan in Traverse or when you need to upgrade the Dynamsoft Service, you will be prompted to download and install the Dynamsoft Service.
Important Note: If you have another application that uses Dynamsoft Service version 18+ you will need to download and copy these version 17 files to the DynamsoftService folder on your computer. That will allow you to run the Traverse version 17 and version 18+ of the Dynamsoft Service together. Visit the Dynamsoft technical article for more information.
Navigate to a case, person, or organization in Traverse.

Section 3: Configuring scanner settings
Scanner settings need to be applied to each machine that uses Traverse to scan using the steps below or by importing a settings configuration file (PAV file) on the computer. See Applying scanner settings using a settings configuration file.
Scanner settings, like the ability to scan double-sided (blank page detection) or in color, are not controlled or included in Traverse itself and need to configured using the Twack_32 application or in scanner settings within Microsoft Windows.
Note: The steps below describe how to update scanner settings using the Twack_32 application.
Connect the scanner to the computer and turn it on.
Download the Twacker 32-bit utility, available here. (Administrative credentials may be needed to download. If required, please contact your system administrator.)
Open the MSI file. If prompted, allow the utility to make changes to your computer.

In the Page section, set Blank Page Detection > Content Sensitivity to high by dragging the slider to its farthest left position.
In the Page section, set Blank Page Detection > Margin to 0mm.
Note: The blank page detection settings allow pages to scan double-sided.
Click OK to save your changes.
You can now scan using Traverse.
Section 4: Allow Local Network Access in browsers
Local Network Access restricts the ability of websites to send requests to servers on a user's local network (including servers running locally on the user's machine), requiring the user grant the site permission before such requests can be made. The ability to request this permission is restricted to secure contexts.
Chrome and Edge browser users will see a new permission prompt for Local Network Access beginning in Chrome 142 and Edge 142. This will need to be accepted for scanning to function properly in Traverse.
Users should click the Allow button when they see the browser prompt to Look for and connect to any device on your local network.
Not allowing local network access will cause Traverse to prompt you to download the Dynamsoft installation file. For help updating your browser settings to allow Local Network Access if you do not receive the security prompt, click the following links for Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome depending on which web browser you are using.
