Traverse puts you in control of what users in the agency can access at the case and content level. This article provides an overview of these security options and diagrams of how the security options would present to users.

How does it impact case visibility?

How does it impact case* content visibility?

How is it activated?

Restricted cases

Limited to assigned workers or users with the Staff management feature access and access to that case's service delivery. When users create a case, the workers available to assign to that case are determined by the service delivery selected.

From the system of record or when users add and edit a case in Traverse.

Staff management feature access

Limited restricted cases feature access

Limited to service delivery access. Within a restricted case where you're not an assigned worker, you can only (1) add content and (2) see the content you've added and the connected people/cases/organizations.

Limited to service delivery access and for restricted cases where you're not an assigned worker, the content you've added.

An additional security measure can be taken to limit access to content types, which changes the way some of the security options above present to users:

Content type access within a group**

Limited to service delivery access and for restricted cases, whether you're an assigned worker.

Limited to content type access and for restricted cases, whether you're an assigned worker. So workers can see select content types within any unrestricted case but not the case information outside of their service delivery.

For Limited Restricted Cases users, this means they can no longer see content in a restricted case, just add new content for other workers to handle later.

*People and organizations can always be accessed, and content connected to people and organizations can be accessed if the user has access to the content type.

**Content type access within a group does not restrict what content types you can add to Traverse; you can add content of any type. You can also assign work items to users for content items they cannot access, and they’ll be able to interact with the work item but not view the content item.

Known Issue

For Limited restricted cases users with content type access enabled: When you connect a content item to an unrestricted case, then connect the content item to a restricted case where you're not an assigned worker, Traverse will not indicate a connection, but the connection has been made.

The content item will also no longer be visible to you since you cannot see content in those restricted cases. Other users with access to all of the restricted case—not a limited view like Limited restricted cases users have—can see the content item and that connection to it elsewhere in Traverse.
