You can scan a file from a case, a person, or an organization. The file will be connected to the case, person, or organization where it was scanned, and you can add additional connections as you prepare the scanned file for submission.

If you need to scan a file for a caseworker to handle later, see Routing a scanned file to a worker.

Once you submit the scanned file, it becomes a content item, and you cannot edit it.

To scan a file

  1. From a case, a person, or an organization, click + New at the top right.

  2. Click Scan.
    The scan page appears.

  3. Click Begin scanning to begin the scan process.

  4. From the right-hand panel, use the pencil and date icons to select a content type and date and add additional connections if needed. You can add an optional comment in the Comment section.

  5. Optional - To rotate a page, hover over it and click the left or right arrows.

  6. Optional - To preview a page, hover over it and click Preview.

  7. Optional - To delete a page, hover over it and click Delete.

  8. Optional - To reorder scanned pages, click and drag the desired pages.

  9. Click Submit content item.
The content item submits, and you have the option to scan another file with the same connections. Traverse starts processing the file as soon as you submit it, but you may have to wait a moment before you can view it.
