Adding and editing a person

Identify the people involved in the case.

Subject to agency permissions, you can add a new person wherever you see the + New button.

You can edit person information from the person overview page (purple person icon or profile photo), by clicking View details in the header.

When you add a new person from a case, a person, or an organization overview page, it'll be connected to the case/person/organization where you started.

For example, if you navigate to Case 12345 and add a new person there, that person will be connected to Case 12345 (like a case head to a case). If you navigate to Person A and add a new person there, that person will be connected to Person A (like a brother to a sister).

This functionality would be needed for Traverse installations that do not have a data integration with a system of record.

To add and edit a person

The steps below outline the default fields for a person. Your agency may have configured custom fields for people to align with your business processes or may have otherwise altered the fields described in these steps. Contact your system administrator or the Northwoods Support Center if you need assistance with this process.

  1. Click the + New button from an overview page.

  2. From the drop-down list, select Person.
    โ€‹If you don't see the Person button, you may not have permission to add a person.
    The Add a New Person page appears.

  3. Enter the person's information. (A first name and last name are required.)

  4. Optional - Click + Add an address to add an address for the person. To edit or delete the address, click the ellipsis icon.

  5. Make sure that all required fields have values and that all field text is entered in the right format (you'll see a red border around fields if not). Then click Save.
    Your new person will be available. To manage connections, see Connecting people, cases, and organizations.

  6. Optional - To edit or delete the person, click View details from the person overview page (purple person icon or profile photo). Note that the person can only be deleted once their connected items have been removed.
