Using Talk to Your Case

Ask Skye questions about the content in a case, person organization, or content item.

Written by Bethany Abbott

With Talk to Your Case, you can get quick answers about a record without reading through every document. Ask Skye, your AI agent, a question about a case, person, or organization, and Skye searches the content connected to that record to answer it. You can also ask Skye about a single content item. For example, you could ask “When was the last home visit and what was discussed?” or “List the medications mentioned in this case.”

Talk to Your Case is a feature that must be enabled for your agency, and feature access is then assigned to users through group settings.

To use Talk to Your Case, users must have the Talk to your case feature access.

Skye only uses content you have access to. If you can’t view a content item in Traverse, Skye won’t use it to answer your questions.

How to ask Skye about a case, person, or organization

  1. Go to the case, person, or organization you want to ask about.

  2. Click Ask Skye at the top of the page.

  3. The first time anyone asks about a record, you may see Processing content... while Skye reads through the connected content. This can take a little longer for records with a lot of content. You can leave the page and come back; Skye will keep working on it.

  4. Type your question into the Ask me a question field and press Send, or click New chat to start a new conversation.

  5. Skye responds with an answer drawn from the record’s content, with numbered citations showing which documents were used.

  6. Click a citation to see the source document and the text that informed the answer.

Giving feedback

Use the thumbs up or thumbs down on any answer to tell us what worked and what didn’t. Your feedback helps us improve Skye.

Tips for getting the best results

Ask specific questions. The more specific your question, the more accurate the answer. For example, “What concerns were noted at the March 3 home visit?” will return better results than “Tell me about home visits.”

Use follow-up questions. Skye can build on a conversation, so you don’t have to ask everything at once. Start with a broad question and drill down with follow-ups in the same chat.

Ask for exact wording when you need it. If you need a quote or transcript exactly as it appears in a document, ask Skye for the verbatim text.

Rephrase if you’re not getting what you need. If an answer isn’t helpful, try asking the question differently or breaking it into smaller, more focused questions.

Check the citations. Every answer includes numbered citations showing which documents were used. If something doesn’t seem right, use those citations to go directly to the source. Always verify AI-generated responses, especially for decisions about a case. Skye’s answers may include errors or missing details and should not replace your professional judgment.

It only knows what’s in the record. Skye can only answer from content connected to the record (or the single content item you’re asking about) that you have access to. If Skye can’t answer something, the information may not be in Traverse yet or may not be connected to this record.

Talk to your case vs. Policy assist: Use Talk to your case for questions about a specific case, person, organization, or document. Use Policy assist for questions about your agency’s policies.
